2020 WINNERS
BEAUTY THE CAT

Genre: Animated
Logline: During World War II, Beauty, a kitten who has been separated from her mother and brothers, integrates with the Animal Resistance Network and helps humans repel enemy forces. Once the war is over, Beauty is praised for her bravery and finds her mother and brothers, whom she believed were dead.
Bio: Juliette spent 7 years in the industry as a composer of music for films in France. Two of the films she contributed to include Far Away and Changing Times by director André Téchiné. She won the Special Jury prize for the original score of André Téchiné’s film Far Away (Festival International Musique et Cinema, Auxerre, France). In 2004, she was a jury member at the Cannes Film Festival’s “Directors’ Fortnight”. She is also an alternate board member of the SACEM in France.
Never forsaking music, her passion for film led her to study filmmaking at the New York Film Academy. She then opened a production company and began to produce her own movies. Her documentary Revealing Form premiered at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival (Doc Film Corner). For the feature film Smile, You’re on Camera! she was a finalist at the 2015 Creative World Awards. Additionally, with this project, she was the top finalist at the 2015 Mexico International Film Festival and made the ‟Hot 100 List” at the Capital Fund Screenplay Competition in 2017. In 2019, after having made some changes in the script, she was a finalist at the Las Vegas Screenplay Contest for the screenplay.
For the one-hour drama pilot The Exchange, she was a finalist at the Las Vegas Screenplay Contest. Additionally, it was a winning screenplay at the First 10 Pages Screenplay Contest and made the ‟Hot 100 List” at the Capital Fund Screenplay Competition in 2017. In 2019, after having made some changes in the script, the episode received second place at the Las Vegas Screenplay Contest. For the one-hour dark comedy pilot Who are you Victor Goddard? she was a finalist at the Las Vegas Screenplay Contest. She has written two other screenplays: Etienne Flores and Le pays où l’on n’arrive jamais.
CONTRIBUTING TO THE DELINQUENCY OF A VAMPIRE

Bio: Michael W. Hogan has written numerous award-winning feature-length and short film screenplays. A sampling includes Best Comedy Screenplay "The Funny Thing About Road Kill"; faith based drama, “The Near Death Experience of Dr. John Dantry”; and his latest comedy/sci-fi script, “Benny B” which began its run on FilmFreeway with a perfect 7/7 selection rate (as of January 2020).Two of Michael's produced horror shorts, "Room Service" and "Just a Nibble", became popular selections on the film fest circuit. He also reverse-adapted his 4Q family sci-fi script "Sebastian and the Invisible Island" into a novel for young readers.
PIPE DREAM

Logline: Grief-stricken by his grandfather's death, Ronnie MacDonald masquerades as a drummer and joins The World’s Most Dangerous Pipe Band for free passage to Scotland. Once there, he embarks on a frenetic pilgrimage to his ancestral homestead, where he confronts the demons that have cursed his family for centuries -- sheep.
Bio: In 2017, Corey Mayne incorporated his own Toronto-based production company, Formido Films, with long-time collaborator and respected producer, Barbara Szeman. Now, their adaptation of Stephen King’s original ghost story "Willa" is the first of many exciting, ambitious projects they have slated to produce under that banner. As an industry VFX artist, Corey narrowed his focus to providing services for shows more analogous to the type of content that inspires him, shows like "Vikings", "Penny Dreadful", "The Borgias", and "Game of Thrones". He began his industry career as a VFX artist at Sony Imageworks and Pixar whilst taking advantage of their employee writing & directing enrichment courses.

TOKEN IDIOTS: FIRST BURN (Pilot)

Bio: Matthew Lutz is a multi award-winning and produced screenwriter who specializes in high-concept comedy features and TV. He earned his M.A. in Film Studies from UCD, wrote and co-produced a comedy sitcom pilot, and is currently working on a pilot development deal. While developing TOKEN IDIOTS, he spent 18 months working amongst Blockchain Pioneers and Bitcoin Billionaires.
